Trail Description

Type of trail: Rails-to-Trails Project (Gravel)
Difficulty: Easy

In 1993 Snohomish County Parks and Recreation purchased a 27 mile railroad corridor as part of a rail bank. A 6 mile section from Darrington to Swede Heaven road has been brushed, restored and opened. This corridor is known as the Whitehorse Trail and will be linked to the Centennial Trail at Haller bridge north of Arlington. It is a non-motorized trail. When the Whitehorse Trail is completed, it will add an additional 27 miles of trail to the Snohomish County regional trail system.

The trail surface has both hard packed and loose gravel. Its flat but not smooth. The trail follows near the North Fork of the Stilliguamish River and has some good spots to see the river and wildlife. There are one or two places with views of the impressive White Horse mountain.

There are no bathroom facilities on this trail.
